This exclusive program allows you to use your vacation credits for an unforgettable cruise experience through the most amazing destinations in South America.

A VACATION ON A BOAT
CRUISES IN SOUTH AMERICA

A cruise vacation is a unique experience where everything you need is in one place: food, drinks, entertainment, fun, relaxation, new friendships, and the best part—different destinations to discover every day. These are just some of the incredible experiences you can enjoy with our Royal at Sea program.

The South American cruise routes take you from Buenos Aires to the most beautiful destinations in Uruguay and Brazil, as well as Patagonia and other southern locales. These cruises typically depart at the beginning of December and run through the beginning of March.

Every cruise features great dining halls, buffets, snacks, and bars, along with additional gourmet dining options. Besides the fantastic food, cruises offer a wide variety of fun activities and attractions. Cruise ships have all-day itineraries that guarantee a fun and relaxing experience for all guests, regardless of age or activity preference. You can participate in poolside activities, sports tournaments, international shows, live music, or enjoy relaxing days at the spa. With so many options, you can plan your days to get the best experience possible.

CRUISES TO URUGUAY AND BRAZIL

The best South American cruises included in the Royal at Sea program are part of the MSC Cruises fleet. During the summer season of 2024-2025, the MSC Poesia and MSC Armonia will embark on journeys to South America, along with the new addition, the MSC Splendida, to this wonderful route.

Most cruises depart from the Buenos Aires port and typically last from seven to eight nights, although you can also find nine-night itineraries. Other ships depart from Montevideo or Punta del Este in Uruguay, making stops at various Brazilian destinations such as Camboriú, Ilhabela, Rio de Janeiro, Búzios, Ilha do Mel, Itajaí, and Santos, depending on the dates and the cruise ship you choose.

A CRUISE THROUGH PATAGONIA

Cruises to South America are also very popular during the summer. The cruise company Princess is a great option if you’re looking for these types of experiences. The Sapphire Princess navigates through the southern part of Punta Arenas in Chile, visits Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego, explores Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, and Montevideo, before concluding its trip back in Buenos Aires.

These cruises also have routes that stop in Puerto Montt and Valparaiso, giving you the chance to visit two charming towns in Chile and even explore part of the great city of Santiago.

Visit our website to explore all the options available with Royal at Sea. The fun services and itineraries that you can enjoy with your vacation credits will make this an unforgettable trip.

All aboard!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ALL-INCLUSIVE CRUISES

by Royal Holiday August 20, 2024
written by Royal Holiday
CRUISE

The experience of traveling the seas on a ship can be extraordinary if you know the services and amenities available to you. The main attraction of a cruise is having all on board and getting to know incredible destinations while you plow through the water, but what does a cruise ship offer? Is it all-inclusive?

Services can vary depending on the shipping line, but the basics include accommodation and transport to diverse ports. On this occasion, we will tell you about these types of trips and we will answer your questions about what you can find onboard. Additionally, we will share with you one of the most pretty and dynamic ports in the world, the one in Barcelona, Spain; from this starting point, you’ll be able to take the fascinating route of the Mediterranean Sea and get to know emblematic and picturesque destinations of Europe.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES INCLUDED?

ALL-INCLUSIVE

Cruises include buffet-like meals in some restaurants, however, remember that specialty restaurants can have an additional cost. Depending on the shipping line and the plan acquired, you can have unlimited non-alcoholic drinks or you can get a package with alcohol included. It is recommended to ask when buying your tickets what option fits your necessities and travel expectations better. If you decide on the Mediterranean route, you can book it with MSC Cruises. Onboard you will enjoy first-class gastronomy, big spectacles, water slides, pools, a spa, a gym, a sports complex, music rooms, and fun for the entire family.

ACTIVITIES AND FUN

ALL-INCLUSIVE

During your journey at sea, fun is guaranteed with various all-inclusive activities. Day and night, the ship’s entertainment centers offer diverse events, whether in the pools, where there are usually water activities and children’s areas, or in the sports courts, performance spaces, casinos, and even onboard theaters or cinemas.

A cruise is like a floating resort where you can also access a gym and sauna. Most ships have shops for shopping.

If you need to connect to the internet, keep in mind that you’ll spend a good part of the trip at sea, where receiving a cell signal can increase your bill due to roaming. Depending on the cruise line, options for internet packages for a day or more are offered. Some destinations also have free Wi-Fi hotspots.

Cruises offer beauty treatments and spa services during the voyage. These services usually come at an additional cost but remember, you’re on vacation, and it might be a luxury worth indulging in for complete relaxation.

If you’re traveling as a couple, cruises often have florists or jewelry stores onboard, where you can purchase gifts.

On land, you’ll find tours to help you explore each destination, such as a Mediterranean cruise. Keep in mind that these tours usually have additional costs.

GO ACROSS THE MEDITERRANEAN

CRUISE

The Western Mediterranean routes can vary a little, depending on the starting port. In general, you visit the ports of Palermo, Ibiza, Valencia, Syracuse, Marseille, Genoa, Rome, Barcelona, Napoli, Messina, Valletta, Koper, Livorno, and Toulon.

With this route, you will be able to mainly get to know the Spanish and Italian coasts.

Whether you choose the Western Mediterranean or the Eastern Mediterranean, you will discover places rich in history and culture, along with a unique and delicious cuisine.

With your Royal Holiday membership enjoy Royal at Sea, the program that allows you to use Holiday Credits to travel on the most exclusive cruises operated by the most prestigious cruise lines, some with All-Inclusive options. Check out our available routes and ask your vacation advisor for the best option for you.

Cruise ship trends 2020: more passengers and additional routes

by Royal Holiday January 19, 2020
written by Royal Holiday
tendencias_cruceros_2020

Cruise ships trends for 2020 are focused on having more passengers living the fascinating experience of this way of traveling.

According to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), which brings together the most important shipping companies in the world, 32 million people will take a cruise next year.

Almost half of them will come from North America (14.24 million), followed by travelers from Western Europe (6.73 million); Asia (4.24 million); and Australia-Pacific region (1.46 million).

For that reason, shipping companies are proposing diverse and fascinating routes to provide tourists with a greater variety of options.

There is already an option called “micro-cruising”, which are trips of three to five days whose target audience is tourists who have little time available, but are willing to embark on this adventure.

The Association foresees that in 2020, the interest of travelers will grow in respecting local culture and diversifying excursions, so routes with longer stopovers are already being considered to visit the destinations extensively.

An increase in the number of single travelers is also forecasted, so some companies have already removed the surcharges for traveling without unaccompanied in a double occupancy cabin, as well as the inclusion of studio-type cabins, and other amenities for this type of tourist.

Cruise Ships Trends 2020: Greener Ships

If you are a traveler who is also concerned about the environment, CLIA points out that the sector will invest over USD$20 billion to promote clean technologies and reduce emissions by 40%.

They plan to accomplish that by using more environmentally friendly fuels such as natural gas, and with hybrid exhaust gas cleaning technology, which reduce polluting particles by half.

As a Royal Holiday member, you can enjoy the benefits of “Royal at Sea”, where you can book using your vacation points, cabins on fabulous cruise ships routes.

What about a 4-night trip through the Caribbean? You can do it aboard the Carnival Conquest. Departure is from Miami, Florida, on March 23, 2020.

Otherwise, if you want to experience postcard snowy landscapes, we recommend the 7-night Alaska route on board the Koningsdam ship from Holland Cruises. Departure is from Vancouver on May 2, 2020. https://www.royal-holiday.com/es/cruceros/1269-alaska-7-noches

Getting married on a cruise ship: party and honeymoon in the same trip

by Royal Holiday November 18, 2019
written by Royal Holiday

Getting married on a cruise can be a fun and memorable experience for both the bride and groom, and the guests, as the celebration begins from the moment you get on board the ship and goes on until you descend at the final destination.

It is rather original, and certainly almost none of the guests would have attended one before, so that moment will be unique for the couple and for everyone else.

To perform a ceremony of this kind, there are several elements that must be considered for the experience to be as or better than planned.

For starters, like many resorts, shipping companies have wedding planners who will really do a lot for you. They will explain to you the available packages, and also some cruise lines even offer free wedding websites to keep your guests updated and organized.

A wedding aboard a cruise ship is intended for few attendees, so guest lists are usually much narrowed than a regular wedding. Although there are a variety of accessories that you can select to make the ceremony more lavish, the recommendation is to choose the basics because the experience is so great that it does not require more decorations.

Getting married on a cruise ship:

Getting married on a cruise ship: pros and cons

Pros

  • The ceremony begins on the ship and the honeymoon immediately afterwards, at the next port
  • A wedding planner who in fact, does everything for you
  • Meals and lodging included. Newlyweds can stay in a special suite for honeymooners and guests, in comfortable but simpler cabins.

Cons

  • The weather can be a downside if you are considering a ceremony on the deck. Either way it is recommended to check other options, and even be willing to change plans
  • Getting married at high seas or in a foreign country may require some paperwork in advance, but the wedding planner should alert you about that. Another option is to perform the civil wedding in your hometown, and a representative ceremony on the cruise ship
  • Some guests or yourself may experience some dizziness, but it is completely avoidable by taking a pill or a soda before setting sail

Whether the wedding is on the beach or under an iceberg in Alaska, the experience will be unforgettable. You can even plan something super emblematic, with your partner only. Learn about the routes and shipping companies available for Royal Holiday members and discuss with your holiday advisor to find out the options you may have.

Harmony of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world

by Royal Holiday October 20, 2019
written by Royal Holiday
harmony_of_the_seas_royal_holiday_1

The Harmony of the Seas is, officially, the largest cruise ship in the world. The gross registered tonnage is 227 thousand tons; with a capacity of 6,780 guests overall and 2,100 members in the crew.

Her first journey was in May 2016, on a pre-inaugural route departing from Southampton, England.

The Royal Caribbean shipping company has held the certificate of the world’s largest cruise ships for several years, and their ships surpass themselves and set a new record. The Harmony of the Seas took the top place from the Allure of the Seas, a ship that in 2010 displaced the Oasis of the Seas, also belonging to that company.

The Harmony of The Seas is a cruise ship belonging to the Oasis-class that offers a “residential paradise of seven neighborhoods”. She covers several routes, all of them in an atmosphere full of luxury, fun and security. The minimum age to go onboard is 21.

harmony of the seas royal holiday 2

Harmony of the Seas: total fun

There is absolute fun aboard the Harmony of The Seas, as it offers endless and spectacular attractions such as the Ultimate Abyss, a slide that takes you down from the top of the cruise ship in just 12 seconds.

You can also ‘fly’ fast above nine decks, over 25 meters above sea level on the Boardwalk Zipline, or climb a 12-meter high Rock Wall, defying gravity.

Inside the ship, the fun continues with impressive Broadway-style plays, live orchestra in the main theater and casinos available to all passengers.

You can also try the Rubicon challenge with your friends or family, a room full of puzzles where you only have 60 minutes to escape.

And to relax after having so much fun, the cruise ship has a first-class Spa and gym with state-of-the-art technology.

As a Royal Holiday member, you can sail through the Caribbean aboard this impressive cruise ship. The “Eastern Caribbean” route takes you from Port Canaveral in Florida, to Phillipsburg, St. Maarten, San Juan, Puerto Rico and to Coco Cay in the Bahamas.

This fascinating cruise ship is waiting for you, pack your bags and plan your next vacation.

10 cruising tips

by Royal Holiday January 8, 2019
written by Royal Holiday

Are you about to take a cruise? Fabulous! It is one of the most exciting and spectacular vacation experiences to be had.

That’s why we’re offering these tips: read them over, and put them into practice to get the most out of your vacation at sea. Ready?

Here we go:

1. Familiarize yourself with the ship

That way you won’t get lost, and check out every nook and cranny of the giant you’re sailing the high seas on.

2. Your card, the key to everything

Once you have boarded, you will be given a card. Keep it with you at all times, because not only is it the key to your cabin, but you will need it throughout the cruise for numerous activities and shops.

3. Smile

Your smile is the best introduction on land as well as at sea.

4. Sharing space

Try to be considerate during your cruise by not slamming doors, stomping your feet or shouting in the hallways. Act the way you would like others to act around you.

5. Dressing for the occasion

You wouldn’t wear a tuxedo to the swimming pool or a bathing suit to a formal dinner. Pay attention to the way you dress; use common sense.

6. Nothing in excess, everything in moderation!

Don’t go overboard with food and drinks, especially the latter. Keep in mind that the term “all inclusive” means not going “overboard”.

7. Above all, discretion

If you have an issue concerning something that happens on board, discuss it privately with ship staff members or the customer service department; do not do it publicly.

8. Casinos

Here you do need to have cash, since these places are not part of the All-Inclusive service.

9. Make sure the ship doesn’t leave you behind!

Punctuality is the key for events on board, as well as side trips you take on land. You must get back on time or you could be left stranded at the port.

10. Above all, respect

By following the rules for each area on the ship, you will stay on a perfectly even keel with staff and fellow guests.

Now you know! Apply these ten tips on your next cruise, and have a fabulous vacation.

Happy sailing!
